CHURCH OF THE EPIPHANY BUILT IN 1908 The Anglican Church of the Epiphany was the first building acquired by the Society and moved to the park on Oct. 12, 1966. In 1907 Rimbey was a rapidly growing community and the need for a church was apparent. The congregation learned that an anonymous benefactor would provide much or most of the funding as a memorial to his recently deceased wife. He stipulated that construction be of native logs placed upright. Obviously no one at the time objected as that was how the Church of Epiphany was built, one of three in the province constructed that way and possibly a good indication as to why it is still standing today. The first minister was A.J. Patstone who obtained a bell for the new church from his former school in England, which still tolls today. In 1991 some of the upright logs were replaced due to deterioration. The church is still used for the occasional service and also weddings. BACK |
